With more than 20 years of IT expertise, Clark comes to GW from Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) where he served as Chief Information Officer and Director of Data Center Operations, leading the strategic direction for information technology, data center infrastructure, and big data management and analysis. 

As GW IT’s Director of Research Technology Services, Clark is responsible for operations and strategic planning in line with the growth of research needs at GW. This includes shared high- performance computing environments (Colonial One, Pegasus and Galactica Clusters), shared infrastructure supporting regulated data, compute and evolving compliance requirements, general purpose shared research services (on premises and in cloud) that compliment core shared services (e.g. – XSEDE , NSF / DOE open-science platforms, Internet2 services, etc.), and providing research scientist and cyberinfrastructure engineering consulting to shared facilities and on funded initiatives. In addition, he leads the operations, strategy and knowledge sharing for CAAREN (Capital Area Advanced Research and Education Network, www.caaren.org), a high-performance research and education infrastructure serving the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia areas.

Clark holds an M.S. in statistics from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in mathematics from the University of Virginia.
