Cloud Services

CAAREN’s Cloud Services, provide members with secure and expandable access to Cloud solutions. ExpressRoute and AWS Direct Connect use Internet2's national footprint to reach Amazon, MS Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This integration ensures seamless access to cloud resources, enhancing the efficiency and performance of data-intensive applications.

Benefits & Specs

  • Cloud Connectivity: In addition to I2PX and other high speed connectivity associated with Internet2, CAAREN services include access to the Internet2 Cloud Connect (I2CC), providing private access to cloud providers. This allows researchers to leverage cloud computing resources, enhancing their research capabilities.
    • Providers
      • AWS Direct Connect: This service provides a dedicated network connection from the customer’s premises to the AWS cloud. It establishes private connectivity between the customer and AWS cloud services, reducing network costs, increasing bandwidth throughput, and providing a more consistent network experience.
      • Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute: This service extends on-premises networks into the Microsoft cloud over a private connection. It allows researchers to establish connections to Microsoft cloud services like Azure, Office 365, and CRM Online, facilitating seamless data transfer and collaboration.
      • Google Cloud Partner Interconnect: Connect to your Google GPC resources securely and privately, using CAAREN's Intenret2 connection.
      • Oracle FastConnect: Securely connect to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to extend on-premises resources to the cloud or create a multi-cloud environment.
  • Private Cloud Access: CAAREN’s presence in Equinix-Ashburn offers direct access to hundreds of cloud and affiliated resources.  This bypasses the public internet, enhancing security and reliability.
  • Versatile Redundancy and Data Routing: Using I2CC alone or in combination with other cloud access technologies, organizations and researchers can enhance performance and availability of both enterprise-critical and research workloads.
