XSEDE 16 Conference; Diversity, Big Data, & Science At Scale

Don DuRousseau, Director of Research Technology Services, attended the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE 16) 5th annual conference held in Miami, Florida on July 17 – July 21.

At the conference, Don participated in a panel discussion within the Workforce Development and Diversity track based on the submitted paper, Advanced Research Network Infrastructure Enables Research Opportunities in the D.C. Area.  The paper was written by Donald DuRousseau, Brian Ensor, Andrew Gallo, Kara Gillespie, Jaroslav Flidr and Noaman Khan.

In addition, Don presented the poster, Building A Shared Resource HPC Center Across University Schools and Institutes:  A Case Study.  The case study was written by  Dr. Glen MacLaclan, Dr. Adam Wong, Jason Hurlburt and Marco Suarez.

XSEDE is a single virtual system that scientist can use to interactively share computing resources, data and expertise.  People around the world use these resources and services – things like supercomputers, collections of data and new tools – to improve our planet.  More information on XSEDE can be found on https://www.xsede.org/.
